Spotlight on Guest Designer Jill Walker

July 20, 2021

Written + Contributed by: Jill Walker, International Designer + Stylist

Jill’s Circular Interactive Mood Board (pictured above) is available to view at our studio, located at 912 Lincoln Ave. Steamboat Springs, CO Monday-Friday 10am-6pm

STYLE OVERVIEW

To highlight the greater connectivity we all desire to our home environment  + to nature.

For maximum impact + perspective, I created a Circular Interactive Mood Board with detachable/ interchangeable paint, material + tile samples.

The Mood Board is ‘circular’ as one style feeds into the next as you move across the board +  then it loops back to the start again, as well as in reverse. My desire with this mood board design is to inspire curiosity in the creative process + broaden  perspective by integrating international designers - mainly English + Italian, 2 of my primary  influences

Footnote

One of my ‘design pillars’ missing from this board is the importance of biophillic design. This  varies with geography, however in mountain regions such as Colorado, you can integrate  boulder-work, water features or dry creek beds, trees, and other plant life within the home.  Architecturally, this compliments large scale window use, blending the outside in. I encourage  this for wellbeing + to create focal points + mood. For example, uplighting natural biophilic  features is a design favorite of mine.

Another design pillar of mine missing from this board is Art - whether it be media based,  paintings, sculptures, or otherwise. Although a broad a topic + very personal to the client +  space, it is of great inspirational importance from my design perspective.
