Our clients came to us in need of direction in blending their individual tastes into a cohesive feel for the home. With only eight months to completion, the previous owner of this house the project at the perfect transition point for any new owner to create a space that was truly unique to them. The only projects left were the interior finishes, which was a dream project for the Rumor Team.
The home is nestled in the serene and rolling hills of the country, just behind the busy town of Steamboat. To compliment that serenity, the overall style of the interior was kept simple and clean, yet refined and cozy to reflect the owners’ tastes. Slick tile flooring keeps the home cool, with vintage rugs and accents to add personality and warmth in each space. Dark ceilings and cabinetry create more dimension and depth, defining the kitchen and living room areas that were most recently just one cavernous opening.
By selecting neutral colors and warm tones in most of the finishes, we were able to create cozy vignettes incorporating the owners’ personal antique furniture pieces and accessories. The contemporary lighting choices update the typical country farmhouse look, while highlighting and accenting the function of each space. The overall feeling throughout the home is inviting, with a sense of curiosity to discover surprising hardware, wallpaper, plumbing finishes, and tile behind every door in the home.

“Rumor Design was recommended to us by several people when we needed help to completely finish the interior of a house we bought. Everyone in the office was wonderfully helpful but especially Katie who was on top of all our needs and wants without being "pushy" about it! That suited our personalities very well and having lots of support in doing something we had never before done was very reassuring.
On moving day Katie and Val came over to the house to help us place the many belongings we brought into our new space and that was super helpful. All of the people that we came in contact with in the office were so patient and kind in explaining things we questioned and we never felt like anything was too much trouble to them.
Their professionalism and knowledge of their craft was remarkable. I have given them the highest recommendation I could and the only thing that I am disappointed with is that as we finish our home I will no longer have the opportunity to "pop" into the office and be greeted by these great people and a little four legged friend.” - homeowner of Cow Creek
